MIUI 12 - Władza w Twoich rękach

MIUI 12 - Power in Your Hands

Beijing, China, May 19, 2020 – On this day, Xiaomi unveiled the latest version of its proprietary MIUI 12 system overlay, delivering the quality MIUI users have come to expect. The highly anticipated MIUI 12 launches with a slew of bottom-up optimizations and offers a premium user experience to impress new and existing users worldwide. With privacy protection at the core of MIUI development, MIUI 12 introduces a range of enhanced privacy features that continually reinforce this principle. With a brand new interface design and innovative system animations, MIUI users will undoubtedly enjoy the "realistic" experience of using the new system.

Improved privacy protection

MIUI 12 gives users greater control over permissions, taking privacy protection to an even higher level. When apps ask for permissions, a wider range of options are offered (such as "While Using the App" and "Notify"). Building on Android's strict control over location permissions, MIUI 12 goes a step further in managing apps that require sensitive permissions. In addition to location, permissions to access the camera, microphone, contacts, call history, calendar, and storage are only allowed in "While Using the App" mode. MIUI 12 also protects user privacy when sharing photos: location information and metadata can be removed before items are sent.

Design inspired by nature

MIUI 12 brings the operating system experience to life with improved UI design and detailed system animations. Animations of key scenes across the entire system have been completely refreshed thanks to system-level technical innovations. Thanks to the Mi Render Engine, MIUI 12 delivers an incredibly smooth UI experience. Powered by the Mi Physics Engine, elegant icon movement simulates a 3D curve that closely resembles real-world motion. From the elegant opening and closing of apps to seamless switching between apps, every detail reflects a refreshing design methodology inspired by nature. With nuanced system animations, MIUI 12 introduces a lifelike operating system where every detail becomes tangibly real.

New features and improvements

Multitasking

MIUI 12 introduces cutting-edge multitasking in the form of global floating windows. When users navigate the system using full-screen gestures, floating windows can simplify multitasking and save them the hassle of constantly switching between apps. Floating windows can be easily moved, closed, and resized using simple gestures overlaid on the action bar. For example, when a text message arrives while a video is playing, users can reply in the floating window without pausing the playback. Floating windows make multitasking on mobile devices smooth, convenient, and seamless.

Screen projection

MIUI 12 has improved the previously introduced screen projection functionality, turning it into an essential tool for any presenter. Now users can start projecting documents, apps, videos, and games with a single tap. Multitasking is also supported: the projected window can be minimized at any time. The option to project elements when the screen is off reduces battery consumption, and hiding private items prevents notifications and incoming calls from being displayed on external monitors.

Ultra Battery Saver Mode

MIUI 12 supports Ultra Battery Saver mode. When enabled, it limits the most power-hungry features to extend phone life and reduce power consumption when the phone's battery is low. This does not affect calls, messages, or network connections.

Dark mode

MIUI 12 has been given a whole new look with the improved Dark Mode. With a darker color palette for the system background, system apps, and third-party apps, Dark Mode provides a unique visual experience in low-light conditions. When Dark Mode is enabled, users can also choose to automatically adjust the contrast to match the ambient light when the screen brightness is reduced. Dark Mode also lowers battery consumption and helps reduce eye strain.

Application drawer

The Poco Launcher has been well-received by global users. Its signature feature—the app drawer—is now available in MIUI 12. Enabling it brings all your apps to the launcher, making your home screen cleaner and neater. You can also automatically group apps according to your preferences, so you can find the app you need in just a few swipes.
