How to transfer data to a new Xiaomi smartphone?
What does every happy owner of a newly purchased Xiaomi smartphone do? They unbox it, explore the available features, take a few test photos, and… transfer their most important contacts, photos, files, and all other essential data from the previous phone. Want to know how to do it quickly and efficiently? Here’s a short guide on how to transfer data from a Huawei or Samsung phone to a Xiaomi device.
Use an app!
Copying content doesn’t have to be time-consuming or tedious. Just go to the Google Play Store and install any app designed to transfer data to a new device. Using one of many dedicated tools can save you a lot of effort. You have plenty of options to choose from, including Mobile Transfer, Send Anywhere, Mi Mover, or Share Me. No matter which option you choose, the steps will differ only slightly. Our guide is based on the Mi Mover app.
Step One
Open the Google Play Store. Type “Mi Mover,” select the correct search result, and download the app. This step must be completed on both the phone you’re transferring data from and on your new Xiaomi smartphone.
Step Two
After launching Mi Mover (or any other app you’ve chosen), you will need to specify which phone is sending the files and which one will receive them. On the old smartphone, tap “I’m a sender,” and on the new one choose “I’m a recipient.”
Step Three
Now you can select which content will be transferred to the new device. After marking the files, proceed to connect to your new smartphone. Mi Mover will do this using a Wi-Fi hotspot, so make sure both devices are connected to the same network. The entire process should be very fast, though the duration may increase depending on how much data you decide to move.
